Here is a preview of the new Ext GWT Documentation Center, which can be found at http://extjs.com/gxt/helpcenter. Take a look and let us know if you have any comments or suggestions.

There seems to be a problem with the URL that you've posted. The page just redirects to http://72.52.151.186:8082/help/index.jsp and can't be presented.
Best regards,
Tiago Oliveira

Great. I'm happy to see this documentation center. Thanks.
First comments :
- UML API Reference is not available.
- LayoutContainer -> First line -> "I good understanding is needed" should be "A good understanding is needed"
Ok, I'll tell you when I have REAL comments :">

This is a preview, the app will be moving to port 80. You can try to install the Eclipse plugin using the update site at http://extjs.com/deploy/gxt-update-site/.

These are good comments. I have the writing and spelling skills of a 10 year old. The 2 items are fixed.

When will this be moved to port 80, so we do not have to open a firewall rule?

Darrell, as previously pointed out - if you embed system requirements into the guide, and they are wrong, people will follow them and it will increase your support issue...
http://extjs.com:8082/help/topic/com.extjs.gxt.help/html/gettingstarted/setup.html
The guide suggests downloading GWT M2 !!
I'd advise you re-word the requirements in the guide and point folk to the download file which should contain the current correct requirements...
Cheers,
Grant

The Help Center is now available on port 80. The new URL is:

The Mail Demo is available on port 80 as well:

http://extjs.com/helpcenter/topic/com.extjs.gxt.help/html/gettingstarted/setup.html
still has the GWT as being M2 which contradicts the page previous which requires RC1
there is also no mention of increasing VM memory, which with GWT RC1 and GXT you need to increase it or it will not work...

You're right gslender. By the way, the http://extjs.com/helpcenter/index.jsp?topic=/com.extjs.gxt.help/html/gettingstarted/requirements.html mentions the RC1 but the download link is wrong. It should be http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/download.html or http://code.google.com/p/google-web-toolkit/downloads/list?can=2&q=version:1.5. [FIXED]
On "Helpful Hints" page : http://extjs.com/helpcenter/index.jsp?topic=/com.extjs.gxt.help/html/gettingstarted/helpfulhints.html. You suggest to configure Eclipse to ignore some compiler errors, especially generic related.
I don't think it is a good idea. Why ignore such errors ? If we get warnings, it is because either we (users) or you (gxt developers) make bad usage of generics.

On the same page (doc for AnchorLayout), the sample code is using the deprecated setData method.

I was doing fine following the getting started information until I hit this "The GXT module needs to be added to your projects XML config file:"
Put it where?

This is a great resource!
What I'd like to see is an article or two on the MVC architecture used and recommended in the samples such as "Mail" and "Explorer".
If "Mail" is going to be the reference example, we need a clearer explanation of the MVC architecture used.
Thanks

+1 re EvilTed's comments...
I think docs on all the architecture type stuff would be great - ie MVC, Data, Store, Binder, most of the non-widget pakcages that are not initially obvious how you use them... whilst the RPC example/tutorial is good, more docs would be nice ;-)

Cool, can we have them later today then ;)
Another big help would be the CSS styles for each and every GUI element.
It's somewhat of a pain to go through everything with Firebug and I can never get every style replaced (the title bar and outside border of Dialog being a good example).

I think it would be helpful to see how to use generics in the samples. In the Explorer demo, a lot of times Proxys, Readers and Loaders are used without generics.

I have a problem with the getting started instructions, I watched the screencast and followed everything step by step.
Then I get to this point:
"Assign New User Library To Your Project
Bring up your project's properties by right clicking the project name in the Package Explorer and selecting Properties from the context menu."
At no point has the instruction told me to create a new project, And nowhere in the IDE can I see any references to a "Package Explorer".

The "LayoutContainer" section in the Help Center contains errors:
// child 1 should use its natural height
RowData data = new RowData();
data.width = 1; // values of 1 or less are treated as %, so 1 = "100%"
data.height = -1 // values of -1 mean to use the widget calculated height
container.add(new Label("Child 1", data); // specify the layout data when adding
// child 2 should fill both the width and height
Label child2 = new Label("Child 2");
child2.setData(new RowData(1, 1)); // another way to "associate" a layout data
container.add(child2);
2 & 3: width and height are not public, setWidth and setHeight needs to be used.
4: There is no such constructor for the Label class, is this a typo?
5: Label has not setData method. Is this really the correct class to be used here?

Darell!
Your work is o amazing, but learning of this framework must be easier than always digging in source code.
For me is very missing description in help center description for simple CRUD operation with your framework.
Could You put some tips about this theme in documentation center.
Thanks a lot!

but learning of this framework must be easier than always digging in source code.+1 also. I think a basic tutorial like Swing's one (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/) is missing. Especially one like "Using Swing components" (how to use ComboBoxes, how to use Trees, how to use Tables...).
+1 for MVC tutorial (Controller, View, AppEvent)
+1 for CSS reference
I would also add "How to create your custom widgets" (extend Component, override beforeRender or onRender for lazy rendering...)

+1 to all those too. A tutorial (along the lines of the excellent GWT tutorial) is badly needed for this excellent framework.
